Voice Over Broadband

"Voice over Broadband" encompasses two types of Voice over ATM transport:

In the Line Provisioning window, Configure one of the voice channel cards. Check the Use Packetized Voice box for the channel you want converted to VoBB and press the Packet Voice Options button to bring up the configuration window:

The CID # at the top of the configuration window indicates the physical channel number (on the Amphenol connector) of this voice channel. To enable VoBB conversion, click the Voice over ATM button as the transport type.

Next, specify what type of transport you want: either Voice Trunking Over ATM (VMOA) or Voice over Broadband.

If you select Voice over Broadband, you must specify what type of hub you are connecting to: either Jetstream, Coppercom or BLES type.

For any Voice over ATM transport, you need to set the VPI and VCI (analogous to the DLCI number for Frame Relay). These numbers should be assigned to you by your service provider.

Voice compression is negotiated between the P32mxi and the end terminal. To allow certain types of voice compression, check the boxes for the compression algorithms you want to allow to be used. You can also Enable Echo Cancellation and Enable Voice Activity Detection. It is highly recommended that you leave both of these options enabled.
