StarCAD 9000 can be used off-line (in stand-alone mode) or can be directly connected to the target system via serial cable or modem.
If connected to the target, StarCAD 9000 will autodetect the type of system in use and display this selection to the user:

Click Yes unless you are trying to pre-provision another type of system (and want to ignore the system you are connected to). StarCAD will then ask:

Select Normal for batch (normal) configuration; select Live if you want to interactively adjust individual channel parameters, such as channel card gain settings. Individual channel settings are the only parameters that can be adjusted in Live Mode. Normal Mode sends an entire provisioning file to the system all at once and is (usually) a service affecting operation.
StarCAD then asks whether you want to load the current configuration from the system you are connected to:

If you click Yes, it may take up to 15 seconds to load all of the provisioning data from the system. After the data is loaded (or if you clicked No), the main StarCAD screen is displayed. From here you will set up Trunk and Line Interfaces, System Crossconnections and Router/Ethernet information.
To help first time users, the Setup Wizard will guide you step-by-step in configuring your system. Or, use a QuickPick as an instant starting point.
