Router Configuration

Routing or Bridging?

First, determine whether the TCP/IP traffic is to be Routed or Bridged. Click either the Use Bridging or Use Routing button depending on whether you want to bridge or route the traffic from the LAN.

If you turned routing on, then you need to choose your Routing Protocol: either None or RIP. If you select RIP, choose whether to use Version 1 or 2 (or Both).

Creating Static Routes

Establish your Static Routes. To add a new static route, click the Add button. This brings up the sub-window:

The Route Name can be any descriptive name you want to use for this static route. The Destination IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Address define the static route. Typically, the Hop Count will be 1.

IP Security

Some of the more advanced features that can be done with the router include Setting up Access Control Lists and Enabling Access to Public Servers on your LAN. You can also Disable Source Routing (which disables the source routing options of TCP/IP) and Disable the IP Address Cache for additional security.
