Firewall

A firewall is a barrier between a secure, internal private network and other (non-secure) networks (like the global Internet). The purpose of a firewall is to prevent unwanted or unauthorized communication into or out of the secure network. Specifically, a firewall will:

In the most secure network, hosts in a secure network cannot access the outside network. This eliminates the risk of being intruded upon by unauthorized users from the Internet but denies any kind of Internet access to users within the secure network.

The RAVE Module provides a primitive firewall capability for your network. Via the Access Lists and Public Server Lists, the RAVE Module provides screening services that deny or grant access based on such things as user name, host name, and TCP/IP protocol. It allows authorized users through while keeping unauthorized users out, and keeps the internal structure of your network hidden.
