The MAC Address window shows the actual MAC address of the Ethernet port on your P32mxi system. This is read-only.
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) allows the system to be the source for all dynamically assigned IP addresses for the hosts (computers) in your LAN. Options include:
No DHCP Disables all DHCP capabilities in the system.
DHCP Client Use whenever the P32mxi is connected to a local network with its own DHCP server. Allows the P32mxi to request an address from the local DHCP server.
Enable DHCP Server The P32mxi becomes the DHCP server for the local Ethernet. Also see the DHCP Server Options window.
Allow DHCP Relay Allows a DHCP server on the WAN side of the network to respond to address requests from devices on the local Ethernet. Requests are "relayed" through the system to the local device.
IP Address If the system has not been set up as a DHCP Client, this field is needed to define the IP Address of the physical Ethernet port.
Subnet Mask Sets the mask bits for this address.
Default Gateway Defines the gateway address where unknown (not on the local network) packets should be sent to.
Max Transmission Unit Sets the largest packet size that can be sent on the Ethernet. The default is 1536 (normal Ethernet size).
